These spicy, smoky, sweet nuts are absolutely addicting! The key is to find a great hot smoked paprika. I use one that my friend created from spices imported from Spain. You do not need to get that fancy, but it is the dominant flavor and I recommend good quality paprika! Honestly, these are a little tricky to get the hang of at first, but worth the effort. Sometimes they come out a little sticky, but I don’t mind that. You can always add more of the brown sugar/paprika mixture at the end if you want. I kind of like them a little gooey.
And again, any flavor of jelly is delicious. I also love the Ja-Ha in this recipe!
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup Mrs. G's Hot Pepper Jelly
- 1/2 Tablespoons hot smoked paprika (or to taste)
- 2 cups mixed nuts
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon (or more) hot smoked paprika
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 6
Instructions:
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with foil or parchment and lightly spray with cooking oil.
- Place hot pepper jelly in medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave 45 seconds on high. Stir in paprika. Add mixed nuts and stir until coated evenly.
- Spread nut mixture in a single layer on pan.
- Bake for 10 minutes (ovens vary...they have to go about 15 minutes in my oven. You want them "praline-like" - just before they start to burn.
- Cool 5 minutes. Break up mixture.
- Combine brown sugar and paprika and sprinkle mixture over cooled nuts, stirring to combine. Store in airtight container.
